R.I.P. Mostros

My beloved Mostros are looking a little bit ragged. These white mesh Mostros were one of my very first Puma purchases about 5-6 years back. One of the most comfy sneaks I've ever put on and always easy to slip in and out of. Dog walks, going out, quick trips to the corner store, summer wear (sometimes w/o socks, LOL) - they have served me well. But they are about to hit the end of the line. They have been washed a few times and the velcro & material is getting frayed. Don't worry, I am not discarding them - they are being relegated to lawn mowing and yard work duty. Rest in peace faithful friends.

But, it is also a happy day, as I have new Mostros (or should I say Nu Mostros) to step in :)

These shoes have been a sort of holy grail of mine. They are a collaboration with well-known Swedish sneaker store Sneakersnstuff (SNS), and limited to 606 pars worldwide. The news was first leaked in the Spring and ever since I caught a glimpse of them, I desperately wanted to get my hands on a pair. They announced the August release date, but that meant waiting another few months. And naturally, they would only be stocked at 3 or 4 stores in all of Canada, meaning that basically, there would be one of each size at each location - slim chances to claim a pair in my size 13. I had a friend in Toronto go to the store and try his luck on release day - and he managed to score my pair!!!! What can I say - I LOVE these kicks !!

It's reindeer leather that is buttery soft, with the form stripe with a nubuck/oily leather look. I especially like insole pattern and the very cool sets of laces and the yellowy rubber sole. Not to mention the velvet shoe bag they come in.

The Guillermo Vilas HoF model, one I've been after for a while. Some great details that honor the "Bull of Pampas" on these kicks - the Argentina blue stripe & laces (w/ metal tips), the bull symbol, the "1991" signifying the year of his induction into the tennis hall of fame and the great tongue. Love these shoes.
